CHIMPS!!

By Jessica Huang, Public Health in Uganda, Spring 2012

Finally! We’ve been having some internet struggles, but here is my collection of photos from Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. It was a really incredible place – 5% of the island is devoted to facilities, and the other 95% completely belongs to the chimps. Because the 95 acres of forest can’t produce enough food for the 48 chimps that it hosts, the staff at Ngamba supply additional sustenance at 4 different feeding times. For breakfast they get millet bread and fruit, at 11 am and 2:30 pm they are fed a mixture of fresh fruit and vegetables, and for dinner time they get a nutritious porridge mix.

Hope you enjoy the pictures – chimps are really fascinating animals and are incredibly intelligent. If you’re ever in Uganda, I would definitely recommend stopping by Ngamba for a visit.
